Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) materials have emerged as essential components in the construction of dry-type transformers, offering numerous advantages over traditional materials.

The FRP cooling tower at the Shanghai Laogang Renewable Energy Utilization Center Phase II Project, designed by SPX Company, incorporates SPARE company's FRP materials for enhanced performance. With a mechanical ventilation mist elimination design, it efficiently handles 4000m3/h of cooling water per tower, totaling 40000m3/h. The tower group, arranged in a single line on the southwest side, consists of two sets of five towers each, with a shared circulating water pump room nearby. Each tower, utilizing SPARE's pultruded FRP frame structure, stands at 21.2 meters tall and 21.1 meters wide, offering both strength and lightweight characteristics, with over 400 tons of FRP pultruded profiles used in total.

2025 In January, the construction of the highly anticipated Advanced Attosecond Laser Facility (AALF) officially started in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, which is constructed by China Construction and Development Corporation (CCDC). As a national major scientific and technological infrastructure, its construction is of great significance, and upon completion, it will be the first Asian and the second global large-scale scientific facility for attosecond lasers.

GFRP, or glass fiber-reinforced plastic, commonly known as fiberglass, is the most commonly used and representative type of FRP.
